Some very sad news from one of our favourite venues

Saturday 12th September 2015

Brian Byrne, the owner & landlord of one of our favourite regular venues The Barleycorn, a truly 'local' community pub in a village suburb of Slough sadly passed away on the 29th August  after developing a chest infection while recovering from radiotherapy for lung cancer.

Brian was a delightful Irish gentleman who was always extremely hospitable and very generous.  According to our records, we have collected  over £4,300 from 18 gigs (including many Christmas and St. Patrick's day celebrations) over the last 7 years from his pub.  Additionally, the family are very kindly  donating the proceeds of a collection in lieu of flowers at his funeral for CLIC Sargent.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Brian's family and friends.

We performed at Wherwell Proms.  A great evening despite an initial problem with the AV supply but we played on regardless.   A very kind donation of £200.00 was made to CLIC Sargent for our performance for the evening.  We were very relieved that the threatened bad weather did not materialise. Thank you to Wherwell Proms for inviting us again this year.

Saturday June 27th

Saturday June 6th

Another fete - this time we performed and acted as the MC's at The Wargrave Fete and raised £208.00 for CLIC SARGENT.   We thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and one of our highlights was definitely judging the hat competition.

A special thank you to the very kind person who took the collection bucket to collect the donations for us.

Thank you to everyone who donated to a very worthy cause.

A great afternoon performing at the West Village Fete on

Saturday 6th June.  The donation for our services for the afternoon OF £250.00  will be donated to CLIC SARGENT.

31st January 2015

On Saturday the 31st January we were delighted to have been asked to peform at a private 60th Birthday Party in Wargrave.  We played for over 5 hours for around 70 guests and we raised  £875 in donations for CLIC Sargent in lieu of Birthday presents.  Thanks to the very generous guests for raising this phenomenal amount and our sincere thanks to the wonderful hosts,  Graham and Kaye Howe.

11th December 2014

Thank you to everyone who joined us on the 11th December at The Ark in Maidenhead. The evening was a huge success once again for Clic Sargent and we thoroughly enjoyed playing and listening to you singing along to your favourite Christmas Carols!

Tuesday 2nd December 2014

We  raised £212 (including a contribution from the Christmas raffle) for CLIC Sargent from our gig at The Greyhound in Eton Wick on Tuesday 2nd December

The Retros fans definitely appear to be getting younger!

A novel idea of Brian the landlords so as to not  waste any unecessary energy lifting his pint...by giving Rob an extra long straw.
